Getting Back to a Little Free-Ranging!

March has come in like the proverbial lamb.  With days getting a little above freezing and nights just slightly below freezing, the snow is receding rather quickly.  Now, this is Manitoba, and if March goes out like a lion we could easily get another foot of snow.  However, as the snow recedes, The Hens and Rocky are getting outside everyday in a big way!  And they just seem happier!  Don't know what they're finding in all their scratching - but they seem to be enjoying themselves.

  1. Nice to see. I picked up the first edition of the new Chickens Chickens published by Hobby Farms. See it here.

We have not had chickens for years but I always enjoyed them. Our one big purchase was from Murray McMurray when they could still ship into Canada by parcel post. That was exciting because we could get the exotics, layers and meat birds all in one shipment and at a good price. But the best deal was 11 year olds from the auction market and they continued to lay at least 10 eggs every day from that summer till late the next fall. They were Sussex I believe.
