Someone Thinks We're Versatile!

Wow!  We've been nominated for a Versatile Blogger Award!  Canning Granny, a blog and Facebook page we enjoy very much, nominated us and it means so much coming from someone we admire!  Check out her fabulous blog for some great pieces on canning, DIY and more!  The blog is new, so there aren't a lot of posts yet but we look forward to every new one!

So, to conform to the rules of the award I must next mention seven random things about us!  Hmmmm.

Here's seven things you may not know about Jes and Norah of Aagaard Farms:
1.  We both have extensive backgrounds in the restaurant business.
2.  We changed careers in the '90's, I (Norah) went back to school for horticulture and we ran our own landscape design/build business.
3.  We inherited Jes' family farm, a little thirty acre market garden.  We didn't really know much about growing vegetables when we moved here.
4.  We have toooo many dogs and cats!
5.  I had never canned anything until we moved onto the farm.
6.  Jes put himself through university painting and we have some fabulous painted finishes in our little farmhouse!
7.  We really wish a Thai restaurant would open in Brandon, Manitoba!

The Rules for the Versatile Blogger Award:
1. Add the award to your blog.
2. Thank the blogger who gave it to you.
3. Mention seven random things about yourself.
4. List the rules.
5. Award to 15 bloggers.
6. Inform each of those 15 by leaving a comment on their blog.

I'm really happy to share 15 blogs we read with you!  Hope you'll go to them and check them out!

New Bad Habits

Just what I needed, new things to take me away from my chores! In cruising the Internet, I've gotten hooked into a couple of great sites, but sites which can take up a lot of my time. Wish I'd found them last winter, but I will have them for this coming winter! Kathy of Cold Climate Gardening has a blog directory that pretty much covers the world. You can search by province, state and country where she has member blogs. The other site is Blotanical, a gathering place for garden bloggers and gardeners. Blotanical is truly international, started by a fellow named Stuart in Australia. You can see fabulous gardens, exotic plants, read of other peoples' struggles with poor soil, cold and wind. Or perhaps you'd like to grow a banana tree - find someone that can grow them in their backyard and learn more about what the needs for soil and situation. Taking the laptop to the beach this summer?

Welcome!! And Do Say Hi!

Sometimes, I fell like I'm posting into some big, black hole. I never know if anybody is reading this blog except for sister Keltie, who regularly leaves comments (Thanks, Sis!) and Clayton, of A Prairie Journal in Saskatchewan (Thanks, Clayton!). So, we installed SiteMeter, a traffic counter for websites and blogs. Wow, ten to fifteen people a day are reading this blog! SiteMeter doesn't tell you who is logging on, but does give you a location, time of visit, length of visit etc. So, Welcome Mountain View, California! And Welcome to Wheaton, Illinois, Brighton, East Sussex, UK, Nashville, Tennessee and Tallahassee, Florida!! And a special welcome to Arhus, Denmark - an Aagaard relative, perhaps? And Welcome to the different Brandon, Manitoba readers and Souris, Manitoba seems to stop in fairly regularly as well as someone in Ottawa and someone in Toronto! Thank you for stopping by!! And, please, leave us a comment so we know you've been by! Let us know what you'd like to see more of, what topics are of interest. The one place that seems to be missing is Red Deer, Alberta (Sister Cathy......)
